DAY 010 – DESIGNING DANGEROUSLY
Catharsis
In terms of catharsis, my response to the end of a powerful novel is most akin to my response at the end of a powerful play. Films, if I’m emotionally primed, can have violent, body-shaking crying on occasion. At times I’m not proud of how uncool the films are that get me there. The last was the Matthew McConaughey vehicle Interstellar, which just reduced me to a puddle. I know...
Novels and plays however, have a quieter, deeper resonance for me. It often takes the form of my eyes just leaking as I continue to follow whatever narrative has taken it and me to this place. The last book was The Corrections, and I finished it on a flight to Phoenix. The last play was...Parade maybe?
